Itinerary
Your outstanding journey through the Himalaya mountains to timeless destinations throughout Nepal and Northern India begins today as you meet the Tour Manager and your fellow travellers at London Heathrow, ready for our flight to Nepal. Together, we step aboard and settle into our seats to fly overnight towards South Asia via Dubai.
The name of our destination, Kathmandu, comes from the Nepalese words for 'wooden temple', and it is said that the city is named for the 16th-century structure that sits in the main city to this day. Surrounding the wooden temple is more than 1,300 years of history, as Kathmandu dates to 723AD. Today, the city has come to be known as the 'City of 1,000 Temples' for its numerous Hindu and Buddhist shrines and stupas, giving you much to look forward to upon landing tomorrow.

Circling the entire city of Kolkata, the aptly named Kolkata Circular Railway (also known as Chakra Rail) runs for almost 22 miles, with a total of 21 city stations spread out across the length of the route. The line was constructed to help ease the heavy traffic flow throughout the city, which suffered from issues with congestion during peak times. The railway connects many of the most important parts of Kolkata due to its clever circular design, providing an alternate method of travel in the city. It has proven extremely popular with locals and tourists alike, serving as a useful mode of transport as well as affording its passengers with spectacular views across the surrounding landscapes.

Buying tickets for UK train services can be a tricky business - there are so many fares to choose from, each with different rules and restrictions. As you are connecting with an international departure, we strongly recommend that you book a fully flexible ticket to ensure that should the departure times for your holiday change, your rail ticket can allow for these changes.
